LINK local is LIVE!
LINK has launched a one year trial of a matchmaking service in a bid to help local groups strengthen our common goal of a more environmentally sustainable society called LINK Local.
LINK Local is an online Scottish “address book” for local groups with interests in the environment. LINK Local aims to link up campaigning and local action groups concerned with a whole range of environmental topics from localising food production, conserving wildlife, cleaning and greening our energy and transport systems and respecting our landscapes to improving the health of our seas and transitioning to low-carbon living. These issues are linked by people across Scotland striving for a more sustainable approach to how we live in balance with our environment.
Groups can then be searched by area and by interest – allowing all registered ‘LINK Local Groups’ to connect with other like-minded LINKLocalGroups and network according to shared interests. By joining you can then share experiences, campaigns and knowledge which we hope will ultimately support your organisation in becoming a stronger voice for Scotland’s environment.
The long-term plan?
This trial will run for a year, funded by Scottish Environment LINK. It will gauge the level of interest and need across the country with the intention of providing a free service to allies in Scotland’s communities who are involved in local action for the environment.
At the end of the trial (in 2017) LINK will review with participating LINKLocalGroups how useful the service is; if there is a clear value in this type of environmental network-building, we would seek to continue LINK Local for the future.
