Scottish Local Elections 2012

Scotland's 32 local Councils are responsible for planning, waste management, transport and active travel and other important services with a direct impact on our everyday environment. Councils can also deliver other services, such as schools, social work and recreation, in an environmentally friendly way - or not.

Ahead of the May 2012 local elections, the political parties are busy drafting manifestos for the campaign. These are incredibly important because they let voters see what a party's view is on issues like the environment. They outline priorities that political parties will take forward if elected and offer a unique chance for voters to hold politicians to account.

Please help us by contacting the parties' local government spokespeople today to ask them to make sure the environment is at the heart of their manifestos for the 2012 elections.
