Unconventional Fossil Fuels
In June 2013, LINK urged that Scotland take a robust position on Unconventional Fossil Fuels, calling for an explicit presumption against UG extraction until environmental concerns had been addressed, with further consideration of its compatibility with Scotland’s climate change targets. Scottish Government announced a moratorium in January 2015 in order to take and examine evidence about concerns. Many LINK member organisations have strong concerns about the impacts which extraction of unconventional fossil fuels would have on our environment; they will collectively input views and expertise during the moratorium process.
