The small copper breeds on common sorrel and sheep’s sorrel. It was once a common sight on farmland and in towns, but has declined substantially.

Action Needed

1. Press for more wildlife-friendly farming.
2. Raise awareness of the importance of urban greenspaces and brownfield sites.
3. Ensure the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy is fully implemented.

Threats

Loss of semi-natural grasslands, including urban greenspaces and brownfield sites.
