LINK Marine Group responded to the consultation on the Clyde Cod seasonal closure.
LINK strongly support continuing the 2025 closure area and timing into 2026–27, given the extremely low cod numbers in surveys and major gaps in stock knowledge. Lifting protection now would risk further biomass loss and habitat damage, while maintaining the closure safeguards spawning grounds and prevents a precautionary rollback before more monitoring is completed.
