Public perception of government performance on the environment: "How well or badly do you think the Scottish Government is doing in protecting nature?"

Opinion polling shows that people are more likely to think the Scottish Government is doing well in protecting nature (45%) than doing badly (35%). This has remained reasonably stable since 2022. 

Only 8% thought the Scottish Government are doing “very well”, with 38% believing the Scottish Government are doing “fairly well”. 22% of people think the Scottish Government are doing “fairly badly”, and 13% “very badly”.

2022 poll was conducted between 31st October – 6th November 2022 with a sample size of 1033. 

2026 poll was conducted between 5th August –10th August 2026 with a sample size of 1007.
