Delivery Update May 2026

A revised Priority Marine Feature (PMF) list is in development, but no formally adopted or published updated list has been confirmed by the Scottish Government. Current policy and management continue to rely on the existing PMF list used in marine planning and conservation.

There is no published timeline or final output confirming completion of this revision.

Ecological Contribution

PMFs are a core part of Scotland’s marine biodiversity framework, used to identify species and habitats requiring conservation priority and to guide marine planning and fisheries management decisions. Updating the list is important to ensure it reflects current scientific evidence.

However, ecological impact depends on formal adoption and integration into management and regulatory processes. As the revised list has not yet been published or implemented, ecological benefits remain indirect and not yet realised.
